So as y’all should know I was suppose to be moving into the city recently..emphasis on the word suppose, because it didn’t happen. They guy that I was going to be renting from had a what we will call a “change of heart” a few days before I wanted to move in..so i needed to improvise quickly. I knew I had some distant family that stayed in North Jersey but I’m sure both parties were skeptical because we weren’t that close and they are older and y’all know how that is. The problem is that I had already paid for acting class in the city and wasn’t about to ask for a refund. So I started thinking.
Finally I brought myself to give the family I had up there a call. They are an older couple, they probably got me by over 40 years each lol. Mind you they are my grandfathers first cousins, so there like my 3rd cousins, so we see each other at family reunions, but of course we don’t hang out, lol. So I made the call. I’m guessing they were probably skeptical at first for the same reasons that I was. I’m just guessing that because they didn’t describe the place up to parr. On the way up I thought I was lost because literally I started to pass MANSIONS lol. Like I’m from PG County, MD, so I’m no stranger to big ass houses, but damn these houses were amazing. After a few more turns I arrived at their crib. Which isn’t a mansion compared to the newer ones, but I’m going to assume a 4 bedroom house back in the 1970s (when they moved in) was worth a pretty damn penny, haha. Come to find out Alicia Keys literally lives down the street! I took a few pics of some of the houses that were on the market because I didn’t want to actually snap a shot of someones current living place.
Now don’t let the “modest” frontal view of some of these places make you think they aren’t huge. Here is a picture (I didn’t take) of Alicia keys house from the front and then a view from the back. It is insaneeee.
So anyways, I moved up last Friday and of course I went to hit the city…this expensive ass city…this taxing ass city, this taxi ass city, this expensive taxi taxing ass city haha. It was fun tho. I linked up with some old friends and we “started out at Darby, ended up at 1Oak” lol (shout out to Jay Z for that line). It was popping, but of course I messed around and got my first parking ticket. I guess one can’t truly experience New York without getting a parking ticket, or an EZ-Pass. I got tired to those long ass toll lines to I had to get a EZ Pass from the toll people to save time. Needless to say I won’t be driving over unless its absolutely necessary to do so. I’m still looking for a place in the city though, so if anyone knows anything let me know! I need to get over there ASAP. Well the grind will continue, as usual. Stay turned.
